Ownership
At John Ryan Racing we would like you to experience the wonders and rewards of race horse ownership. Enjoy regular visits to see your racehorse at Cadland Stables. As an owner you will watch your horse develop and enjoy the thrill, excitement and pride as you see your own racehorse compete at racetracks around the UK or abroad.
So how do I/we become an Owner & what are the Options?
Horse naming
The owners responsibility if the horse is purchased un-named. The name of the horse is then registered with Weatherbys.
Single ownership
One person registered with Weatherbys as the owner of the horse. The jockey’s colours would represent that person, and all the costs and prize money allocated to that individual.
Partnership
An ideal way for a group of friends or family to become involved with a racehorse together. The costs and prize money are shared between 2 – 20 people. The group chooses the design of their own racing colours. 2 members need to be become registered owners with Weatherbys.
Joint ownership

Joint ownership or co-ownership is a popular option, where more than one person shares the ownership of the horse. The joint ownership can be between 2-12 people, where all the owners need to be registered with Weatherbys. Separate horse registration is necessary for each horse in this type of ownership.
Company ownership

An impressive promotional opportunity. The horses name can be selected and the racing colours designed to reinforce your company and its products and services. Logos will be seen by the public, photographers, and TV cameras before, during and after the race. The company must appoint a registered agent to act on its behalf.
What is owner-sponsorship?

Sponsored Owners are able to reclaim VAT on all their racing expenses.
The owner pays a fee to the British Horseracing Authority which then enables them to use branding opportunities on racing silks, attendants clothing, horse rugs and sheets, etc.
